Delray Beach is a coastal city in South Florida known for its beautiful beaches, vibrant downtown area, art galleries, golf courses, and cultural events. It's often considered a hidden gem in South Florida due to its unique charm and character. Unlike some of the more popular destinations in the region, Delray Beach has managed to maintain its small-town feel while still offering a variety of cultural and recreational activities. Atlantic Avenue, or "The Ave," is surrounded by art galleries, boutique shops, restaurants, and a few coffee shops. Being a coffee aficionado, I made it a point to explore all the local coffee shops when I first moved to the area. After much tasting and deliberation, I have come up with a list of my absolute favorites:
Speakeasy Tea and Coffee:
If you're looking for a cozy and intimate coffee shop in Delray Beach, Speakeasy Tea and Coffee should definitely be on your radar. It's tucked inside The Kollective, a shop filled with an assortment of unique items from local artisans. This small but mighty cafe has a vintage vibe that immediately transports you back in time to those days before Starbucks was a thing. You'll be able to choose from a variety of coffee drinks, teas and baked goods. Whether you're looking to work or catch up with friends, Speakeasy Tea and Coffee is a great spot to relax and enjoy a cup of something special. Overall, this hidden gem is definitely worth a visit!
Amar Bakery:
Elegant, minimalistic, and luxurious, Johan Jones offers a Scandinavian menu hosted by the sommelier @jon.wine. Couples can relax on beautiful velvety chairs under a sparkling crystal chandelier while tasting a wide selection of wines.
The restaurant offers a regular menu and curated dining experiences. Our favorite dishes were: the shrimp rye flatbread made to order, the verlasso salmon and the key west shrimp crepe. We finished the night with Swedish chocolate balls and an espresso.
